We live in an age of freedom. Religion no longer intrudes into our lives; we believe what we want. Those who once had dogma forced down their throats are relieved; those who’ve never suffered such indignities are thankful. And yet ….
Something’s missing.
You have to believe in something, don’t you? At least in right and wrong ... right? There’s a difference, of course, and it’s important. But then what? If there really is a supreme being is he/she really offended just because I don’t know who/what/why he/she is? How could a loving God not understand that? As long as you’re an ethical person, does it matter?
And how about those rules of thumb: what goes around comes around; everything happens for a reason; reincarnation is real ... or not? Is the Dalai Lama really a living buddha? Is it important? Does it matter if you get it all wrong? Is it all nonsense? How do we know?
In this eight-week workshop we’ll explore not just beliefs but also why we believe, and look into the differences between moral security and the challenge of the spiritual life.
No matter how much science uncovers, we’re still left with the stubborn mystery of life. We’ll consider why we’re here, but also explore a different approach: here we are; now what?

We issue receipts on demand.
We keep our fees to a minimum to make the meditation workshops accessible to all, but we also ask registrants to commit to the process by paying in full, in advance. Space is limited, and it's not reasonable to drop out after a few sessions and demand a refund when others have been turned away. Eight weeks is a bare minimum “try-out” period; please give this process the time it deserves.
Cheques should be sent well in advance of the starting date; last-minute payments should be in cash.
A NOTE ABOUT DANA (donations)
Buddhist centres in the West often charge administration fees for the facilities and other overheads while insisting that the teachings themselves are 'free.' They then ask for supplementary 'donations.' We prefer to fix a clear price and make a simple transaction. Our fees are reasonable, and we are open to appeals from anyone in difficult circumstances. As long as we have space, no one is turned away.
Thanks for your understanding. We look forward to sitting with you soon in a Quiet Mind workshop. —Stephen & Caroline Schettini
